Trips of a lifetime

Leaving only footprints

Minimizing our environmental impact. It’s in Y/OUR hands!

You don’t have to be an eco-crusader to make a difference while traveling. Reducing waste and leaving “good” footprints is pretty easy to do, and it’s part of our core. Often times it just comes down to making a conscious decision to try. Things as simple as remembering to refill your reusable water bottle before leaving the hotel, carrying a reusable coffee mug with you to avoid paper cups, or wrapping takeaways in paper, can all make a difference. You can even get creative and have fun with it. Ask a food stall to serve you on a banana leaf instead of a styrofoam plate!

Knowing the things we toss in the trash end up in landfills, burned, or worse yet, work their way into our waterways, the best thing we can do is focus on reducing the waste we produce.

Here are some simple things you can do to help:

Use refillable water bottles

Avoid styrofoam containers

Choose refillable glass first

We have partnered with Ecobrick organizations to help eliminate some of the trash produced on our trips. An Ecobrick is a plastic bottle packed solid with non-biological waste (snack wrappers, chips packets, etc) to make a re-useable building block. Why not join the effort and make one with the trash you produce on your trip!

Also remember to keep an eye on what you purchase. Make sure that souvenirs are made from sustainable sources, and not of endangered species or animals. We support the Too Rare to Wear campaign, with a goal to end demand for turtleshell in Latin America.

A few more things you can do to support:

Decline unethical products

Make an Ecobrick

Eat locally sourced foods
